Lifecycle Status: Obsolete NI designs and manufactures custom integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs). Our engineers employ the most advanced technology available to achieve designs that operate at frequencies up to 67 GHz (bands: L, S, C, X, Ku, K, Ka, Q, U, and V). The NI team has created many IMA designs each capable of a multitude of functions for numerous applications across a diverse range of industries. Our deep commitment to extensive R&D brings emerging break-through technology from concept to utilization and allows our team to eagerly accept design challenges and deliver highly complex IMA solutions. An excellent example of our "break-through" design is the broadband diplexed downconverter used in the heart of the Teledyne Lecroy 100 GHz oscilloscope. The unique NI-designed frequency converter combines state-of-the-art diplexer technology with active and passive RF functions to meet stringent requirements of wide dynamic range, high linearity, low noise, gain flatness, and extremely wide IF bandwidths. |

NI is qualified to design and manufacture high-reliability, made-for-military IMAs. One such product is a digitally tuned oscillator that employs proprietary technology in which oscillations are switched on and off without affecting device bias conditions by quenching negative resistance with a PIN diode. As a result, fast-switching, fast-settling, spurious-free wideband performance is enabled. Another example of NI's advanced IMA design capabilities is revealed in the rugged IMA altimeter transceiver designed for accurate above-ground-level information for small aircraft. The transceiver assembly exhibits exceptional phase noise, linearity, and receiver sensitivity, which allows an increase in dynamic range of detectable signals. The design passed environmental screening for airborne application and can operate in a temperature range of between -40 and +85 degrees Celsius. |
